The British Embassy in Tokyo represents the British Government and its relations with the Japanese Government and promotes the range of British interests in Japan through broadly based cooperation which is of benefit to both countries.
The embassy has a range of sections devised to help British nationals which include:

Political - The Political Section promotes cooperation between the UK and Japan across a broad range of issues.

Economic - The Embassy's Economic section works in Japan to promote UK economic interests in an open and expanding global economy.

Trade & Investment - The Embassy's Trade & Investment Department belongs to UK Trade & Investment which is the Government organisation that helps UK-based companies succeed in an increasingly global economy. Its range of expert services is tailored to the needs of individual businesses to maximise their international success. They provide companies with knowledge, advice and practical support.

Consular - The primary responsibility of Consular Section is to support British nationals travelling or living in Japan, a duty to which the British Government attaches the highest priority.

Ambassador David Warren

"The UK and Japan have a close and warm relationship, building on our many shared interests and values. Both Countries share many priorities on key issues ranging from climate change to conflict prevention and non-proliferation. We also have a very strong trade and investment relationship and one which we would like to become stronger. Japan has huge potential as a market for British business, with some of the most discerning consumers in the world, ready to spend their money on the very best in British products and services."

Mr David Warren took up his appointment as Ambassador to Japan in July 2008. He is responsible for the work and direction of the Embassy, and is the representative of Her Majesty the Queen in Japan.
